I was snooping around on my second-favorite website today www.awesomelyluvvie.com, seeing what juicy tidbits awaited me. Usually, homegirl has me cracking up about why some celebrity chose to wear or how ignorant somebody's cousin is acting, but what I read today as I was going through her old posts (for the 80th time) actually changed my outlook and showed me how faulty my thinking was about the situation involving America's Beloved TV Dad.
Her article, "About that EBONY Magazine Cover and the Cosby Conundrum," holds nary a punch (as do none of her other articles). She talks about how Ebony magazine shocked the world when they released their Nov. 2015 issue of the Huxtable family, but glass was cracked over the entire cover, with the crack starting on Dr. Hux's face. She also talks about how people were in an outrage against Ebony, threatening to cancel their subscriptions, basically blaming Ebony for this whole thing, instead of looking at the source of the problem: Bill Cosby.
After reading her take on the article I realized this: Since allegations came out against him, I found that I was defending him in my heart. Why would these ladies come out after all this time to say that OUR beloved Dr. Huxtable did such a thing? He couldn't have done it! They're lying! Not the good Doctor!
Alas, at some point we have to realize that our favorite actors/actresses sometimes aren't the people they portray on TV. Their lives are totally different than what we see on the tube.
Sometimes that's ok. In Bill's case, it's not ok. Maybe he did it, maybe he didn't. But if over 50 women came out and said the SAME THING, then...maybe they're right. Sigh.
Let's not blame the women; it's not their fault.
